Springtime Fun in the Texas Hill Country

The sun is shining, the weather is warming up and streets are lined with wildflowers – it’s spring, y’all! It’s the most beautiful time of the year in the Texas Hill Country, and Dripping Springs is the best place to enjoy it. Here are some ways to enjoy this wonderful time of year – and it’s all located just a short drive from Headwaters!

Nature and Wildflowers

There’s never a better time to get outside and enjoy the bounty of nature. This time of year is bursting with colorful wildflowers just begging to be admired. There are plenty of places to enjoy a flower-lined stroll or even grab some cute pictures of the kids – Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Founders Memorial Park are just a couple of them. You could even go for a drive! The highways are lined with swaths of blue, pink, yellow and red, so roll the windows down and take a cruise.

There’s plenty to love right here at Headwaters, too. Take a jog or walk along the nature trails and see what you can spot! Bluebonnets, pink primrose and Indian paintbrushes are some of the flowers you might see. You could take your workout outdoors to Homestead Park, where you can enjoy yoga or do some crunches while feeling the breeze.

Farmers Markets

Juicy berries, crunchy vegetables and fresh flowers. Spring is the best time to visit a farmers market! And near Headwaters, you’ll find the City of Dripping Springs Farmers Market – which was voted the number one farmers market in Texas and in the Southwest! It happens every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m., weather permitting. It’s just the place to pick up your Fredericksburg peaches, heirloom tomatoes or even participate in community yoga.

Headwaters residents don’t even have to leave the community for their fresh produce! Every month, the Savory Farmers Market comes to Headwaters. Residents can browse fresh baked breads and pastries, boutique items and artisan goods just down the road from home!

Springtime Events

Dripping Springs is packed with fun in spring! The annual Founders Day Festival happens in April, and is a three-day event celebrating the founding of the city. A huge parade, live music, carnival, street dancers, cook-offs and over 150 vendor booths makes this the biggest event of the year.

If you want something a little more low-key, you can go pick fresh strawberries or flowers at Sweet Berry Farms. They also have activities for the kids, like a barrel train, pony rides, sand art and a petting zoo. Residents at Headwaters have even more options with a full calendar of events and activities happening at the community. They have their own farmers market to look forward to, plus craft events, food truck nights and a Bunny Bash Easter event!
