Meet Lyssa: Headwaters’ Community Manager
At Headwaters, community is at the heart of everything we do – and behind the scenes, it takes dedicated leadership to keep things running smoothly. That’s where our Community Manager, Lyssa, comes in. With a background in hospitality, a love for Austin, and a passion for bringing people together, Lyssa is excited to help Headwaters continue to thrive.
From Hospitality to Community Management
Before stepping into property management, Lyssa spent ten years in hospitality – a career that taught her how to think on her feet, solve problems quickly, and create positive experiences for others. When the pandemic shifted her career path, a friend suggested she try community management. Lyssa jokes, “It’s like hotels, except your residents don’t check out after the weekend!”
It turned out to be the perfect fit. Her hospitality skills translated seamlessly into her new role, and she discovered a rewarding way to serve homeowners and strengthen neighborhoods.
Why Headwaters?
For Lyssa, the first impression of Headwaters was unforgettable. “The beautiful grounds and stunning views from the common spaces are truly breathtaking,” she says. Living on the southwest side of Austin made the location ideal, but it was the community’s natural beauty and charm that sealed the deal.
The Role of Community Manager
Lyssa sees her role as the bridge between residents, the board, and vendors – keeping the community well-maintained, financially strong, and a wonderful place to live. In the short term, her focus is on strengthening communication, streamlining processes, and addressing immediate needs. Long-term, her goal is to preserve and enhance property values, foster a strong sense of connection, and ensure Headwaters continues to operate efficiently and proactively.
A Day in the Life
No two days are ever alike for Lyssa. Her mornings begin with a walk through the community to check on common areas and ongoing projects. From there, she balances resident questions, vendor coordination, financial reviews, board reporting, and the occasional unexpected maintenance or safety issue. It’s a role that keeps her on her toes, but one she finds deeply rewarding.
What She Loves Most
Above all, Lyssa loves the people of Headwaters. “The best part of this community is seeing how neighbors come together, whether it’s lending a hand, sharing a smile, or working to keep our community beautiful and thriving.”
She also has a soft spot for Homestead Park, a peaceful and historic spot that connects today’s Headwaters residents with the land’s original roots.
A Warm Welcome to Prospective Residents
Lyssa wants future residents to know that Headwaters is more than just beautiful homes. “Headwaters offers connection, belonging, and a shared commitment to keeping our neighborhood welcoming and well-maintained.”
